About Ipswich West State School

Located close to the city centre of Ipswich, we are a school moving from strength to strength with high standards for attendance, positive behaviour, literacy and conduct that are collective, consistent, communicated, monitored, recognised and rewarded, and addressed through support and intervention.  

With an enrolment capacity of 260 students and only one-and-a-half to two classes per year level, we are fortunate to have a close, supportive school community in which every student is known and catered for. We provide our students with the opportunities for a fulfilling school life, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed for future schooling and beyond.

About the Role

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Manage and coordinate high-quality advice and support from the Special Education and Early Childhood Development Programs.
  • Lead and manage these programs, providing advice to classroom teachers for students with disabilities as needed.
  • Offer high-quality advice to school leadership and staff to plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities.
  • Coordinate and provide targeted teaching for students needing intervention.
  • Provide and coordinate case management for students requiring significant adjustments.
  • Support staff in accessing specialist services and professional development.
  • Engage in school decision-making and professional development to contribute to school goals and vision.
  • Implement and manage school-wide systems to monitor and record data on students with disabilities.
  • Form partnerships with parents, government agencies, and community groups to support students with disabilities.
  • Manage human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources to achieve goals.
  • Work flexibly within the school leadership team to meet the school's strategic priorities.
