About the position: 

The French Australian Bilingual Program was established in 2023 within Whites Hill State College, a Prep - Year 12 state school situated within close proximity to central Brisbane and is jointly supported by theDepartment of Education Queensland and the French Embassy.

The successful applicant will require accreditation ("Professeur des Ecoles Titulaire") with the French Ministry of Education and be eligible for accreditation with the Queensland College of Teachers; demonstrated knowledge of French curriculum and pedagogy; ability to lead teachingand learning and manage the French Australian Bilingual Program.

Lead teaching and learning

  • Collaborate with HOS (WHSC) and HODC - French Bilingual (Tingalpa SS) on strategic planning processes to ensure consistency between teams
  • Manage the elaboration, implementation and evaluation of the French-Australian Bilingual Program Strategic Plan
  • Lead FBP staff with the implementation of the French-Australian Bilingual Program strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery
  • Ensure consistency of pedagogical practices between mainstream and FBP teams in conjuction with Head of Department Curriculum
  • Lead FBP teachers to build capacity, particularly around French curriculum and research based specific approaches to bilingualism
  • Track and analyse FBP student data
  • Be responsible for French accreditation of the French-Australian Bilingual Program

Develop self and other

  • Develop and maintain effective strategies and procedures for professional development
  • Developing curriculum and performance plans for FBP team
  • Conduct French-Australian Bilingual Program French teachers' professional reviews
  • Elaborate, implement and review French-Australian Bilingual Program Professional Learning Plan

Engage and work with the community

  • Develop a global understanding of the FBP/values of bilingualism with the local community of parents, staff, students and early childhood centres Liaise with a range of French administrative authorities
  • Participation to AEFE and AAFEBS network meetings
  • Organise French official visits to the school
  • Support the submission of scholarship application to the social services of the French consulate
  • Build partnerships with universities, community groups and national/international networks
