About this job
The Head of People and Integrity reports to the Principal and leads a multidisciplinary team across Human Resources, Risk and Compliance, Legal Affairs, and Safeguarding. This key executive role provides strategic and operational leadership and advice to ensure Canterbury College continues to meet its legal, regulatory and pastoral obligations while cultivating a positive, accountable and high-performing workplace culture. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the Executive, Board and College community to build capacity, refine systems and uphold the College’s commitment to care, integrity and excellence.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- A commitment to the Anglican ethos and support of the Canterbury College vision, mission and values.
- Proven experience in HR leadership and industrial relations, with the ability to provide expert legal, risk and compliance advice within an independent school or similar environment.
- High-level communication and negotiation skills and the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with senior leaders, regulators and external partners.
- Strong commitment to continuous professional development, with the capacity to coach leaders, resolve complex issues, lead staff wellbeing initiatives, and promote a positive workplace culture.
- Strategic planning skills to develop and implement HR strategy and workforce planning, build frameworks, lead change, and refine systems and processes across multiple portfolios.
- Knowledge of Queensland education legislation and familiarity with school frameworks and ethos (desirable).
Offered as a full-time, five-year executive contract, applicants must have the right to work in Australia and hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
