Position Information
We are currently seeking an experienced and innovative Head of Library & Information Services to lead our Junior and Senior Campus Libraries from January 2027.
This leadership role is responsible for developing and promoting library services that support learning and literacy across the School.
Working collaboratively with staff, the successful candidate will lead the strategic direction of Library services, manage library resources and programs, and create welcoming, engaging spaces that inspire reading, research and learning.
This role includes leadership of Library staff, collection development, curriculum collaboration, budget management, information services, literacy initiatives and the delivery of programs that support student success and lifelong learning.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in library and information services within an educational setting, and a passion for fostering a culture of reading, inquiry and curiosity.
The successful candidate will also possess:
- VIT registration;
- Relevant tertiary qualifications;
- An appropriate post graduate qualifications in librarianship, and be eligible for membership of Australia Library and Information Association (ALIA);
- Current and broad knowledge of curriculum and effective pedagogy, which aligns with the Australian curriculum;
- Current knowledge of educational trends and schooling practices as they pertain to the role; and
- Current knowledge of learning technologies in relation to the role and the delivery of the curriculum.
At Fintona, our teachers seek out and implement new ideas and practices to enliven our students’ learning journey, provide meaningful pastoral care, are integral to student wellbeing and safety, and embed themselves in the ethos and life of the School. This includes attending school wide events, excursions, and engaging in our camps (outdoor and adventure) program.
