The Head of Junior School is a key member of the School Executive, responsible for the leadership, management and day-to-day operations of the Junior School (Pre Prep to Year 6). Reporting directly to the Principal, the Head of Junior School provides strategic and operational direction to ensure excellence in teaching, learning and student wellbeing. The Head of Junior School works collaboratively as a member of the Executive Team to deliver a seamless and consistent educational journey, while shaping a vibrant Junior School culture that reflects the school’s vision and values. This role requires vision, sound judgment, effective decision making and the capacity to inspire and support others through consultation, collaboration and leadership.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Proven capacity to contribute to the School Executive, leading strategic initiatives and translating school priorities into the Junior School to drive continuous improvement.
- Proven expertise in managing Junior School operations, including administration, timetabling, budgets, compliance, risk management, child protection and behavioural frameworks.
- Experience in leading curriculum design, teaching and learning frameworks, assessment, and student wellbeing initiatives, with a focus on innovation and the effective use of educational technologies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage proactively with students, parents and the wider community, building positive and trusting relationships.
- Ability to build, mentor and lead high-performing Junior School teams, including professional growth, feedback, performance review and fostering collaboration and trust among staff.
- Demonstrated ability to model and promote the school’s Christian values, fostering a culture of inclusion, care, respect and spiritual development.
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia, relevant tertiary qualifications in education, and hold or be eligible for Queensland teacher registration. Postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
