We are seeking an ambitious, creative and inspiring Head of Drama to lead our thriving Drama Department and drive excellence in performing arts across the school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate teacher with strong leadership skills to shape an engaging curriculum, deliver outstanding performances and inspire students of all abilities.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of raising achievement at GCSE level and a passion for developing young people through performance and creativity.
About the Role
As Head of Drama, you will:
Lead and develop the Drama Department to ensure high standards of teaching and learningDeliver engaging and challenging Drama lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4Direct and produce high-quality school performances and productionsMotivate and inspire students regardless of their starting pointsMonitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainmentLead curriculum development in line with current educational thinking and the National CurriculumSupport and develop colleagues within the departmentPromote inclusion, diversity and equal opportunities through the performing artsContribute to the wider life of the school communityThe Successful Candidate Will Have:
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Educated to degree level or equivalentQualified Teacher Status (QTS)Excellent knowledge of performing arts and directing performancesStrong understanding of current educational practice and the National CurriculumSuccessful experience teaching Drama at GCSE level with good or better outcomesEvidence of raising achievement and adding value for student groupsExperience of leadership and managing change effectivelyExperience of working collaboratively to deliver successful outcomesA strong understanding of how children learn and how standards can be raisedEssential Skills
