About Us:
An exciting and unique opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Head of Department - Vocational Education and Training to join Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre. Vocational Training Queensland (VTQ) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) owned by the Department of Education. The primary purpose of VTQ is to deliver both accredited and non-accredited training to at-risk youth to improve literacy and numeracy skills to increase pathway options across the state. This is a temporary full-time position for a period of 3 months, unless otherwise determined.
About the Role:
The Head of Department - Vocational Education and Training is responsible for overseeing the organisational matters of Vocational Training Queensland (VTQ) with a strong focus on quality learning outcomes and targeted growth of the RTO in line with VTQ and the Department of Education's strategic objectives. The position has a key role in the continuous improvement of VTQ's performance and contributing to the achievement of the organisation's vision and purpose.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
