About the School:

West Moreton Education and Training Centre (WMETC) is a co-educational institution that provides educational programs to up to 32 remanded and sentenced students at the West Moreton Youth Detention Centre. Our students have diverse learning needs and come from various cultural backgrounds, with more than 50% identifying as First Nations. Our dedicated staff are passionate about enhancing the knowledge, skills, and potential of students who have often experienced disrupted or prior negative experiences in schooling. We are committed to educating the whole person, providing opportunities for growth, development, and learning to prepare young people for a successful transition from detention.

About the Role:

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
