About the Role

Capalaba State College is seeking an innovative and driven Head of Department - Curriculum to join our dynamic team. Located in the vibrant community of Capalaba, Brisbane, our P-12 college is committed to delivering high-quality education and fostering a supportive environment for students and staff alike.

As the Head of Department - Teaching and Learning, you will lead the development and implementation of diverse, future-focused teaching practices across our unique and inclusive programs, including blended learning, Montessori, and our Twice Exceptional Program. You will collaborate with staff to ensure that each student's individual needs are met, and you will champion teaching strategies that engage, challenge, and inspire.

You are an experienced and inspiring educational leader with a passion for curriculum design and development across a variety of programs. You thrive on collaboration and are skilled at fostering an inclusive, positive learning environment. Your ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the community sets you apart.

With no teaching load for the first year, you'll be tasked with:

  • Leading curriculum planning and implementation for Years P-9, ensuring alignment with the Australian Curriculum.
  • Overseeing the blended learning model, integrating technology and personalised learning pathways for students.
  • Manage the Montessori program, ensuring a learner-centred approach that promotes independence and creativity.
  • Support, develop advocate for our Twice Exceptional Program, tailoring curriculum to support gifted students with learning differences.
  • Provide strategic leadership and support for teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture among staff.
  • Implement data-driven practices to enhance student outcomes and learning experiences.
  • Mentor and guide teachers in effective pedagogy and professional growth.
