The town of Beaudesert is a regional hub located 80kms south of the Brisbane CBD. It has strong ties to agriculture, and a relaxed and friendly feel.
Beaudesert State High School offers an excellent and comprehensive curriculum, catering to students pursuing many different career paths. We have an extensive focus on literacy and numeracy, with tailored modules that build strong foundational skills, all the way to extension subjects that challenge the most academically able students.
About the Role
Responsibilities for the Head of Department - Teaching and Learning include, but are not limited to:
- Having a strong understanding of policies that impact on schooling, especially in relation to curriculum, assessment and reporting.
- Having a strong understanding of evidence-based teaching practices and the knowledge, understanding and experience to lead the implementation of the school's pedagogical framework and moderation practices.
- Leading the implementation of a systematic approach to curriculum delivery.
- Leading professional development and opportunities for self-reflection to teaching staff.
- Leading the promotion of a culture of collegiality and continuous improvement and growth that is aligned to our school vision and values.
- Planning and implementing the Mentoring and Beginning Teachers' program.
- Leading the organisation, training and implementation of processes for the delivery of NAPLAN.
- Engaging in strategic planning and fostering a culture of creativity and critical reflection with open and dynamic conversations occurring within and across the school's leadership team and within faculties.
- Managing the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
