About the Role:

Head of Department - Student Services are integral members of our Wavell State High School Leadership team and HOD's in many instances are the initial point of contact for a range of inquiries made by parents, staff & students & make informed decisions based on a good knowledge of school policies and procedures.

Head of Department's lead through:
Empowerment:

  • High Performing teams of Form teachers who in turn lead class teachers to support the academic, social-emotional and wellbeing of the Year Level cohort.
  • Liaising with student, school parent, caregiver as required (in consultation with school support services).
  • Promoting capability and learning opportunities for all in our school community.

Inclusion:

  • Creating a culture of high expectations and promoting a positive learning culture in which all people contribute and are accountable (leading year level assemblies, events and form teacher meetings).
  • Enabling through capability, student leadership opportunities with a lived and enacted understanding of service and legacy.

Integrity:

  • Designing a culture of respect through clear communication of school expectations and enlisting parent, caregiver support.
  • Prioritising and managing responsibilities relating to student wellbeing, attendance, engagement, and behaviour in collaboration with the Heads of Year Team, Student Support Services and Deputy Principal.
