The positions are temporary part-time (0.2FTE, 10 Hours) as Head of Department - Student Services. The school has availability to offer classroom teacher engagement (up to 0.8FTE 40 Hours) to successful applicants.

Toogoolawah is a small secondary school catering for Year 7 to Year 12 students. About the Role

This role is pivotal to fostering the behavioural and emotional well-being of students. You will demonstrate a vital commitment and play an indispensable role in upholding the school's culture of high expectations. You will collaborate with other Heads of Department Student Services, and work with the Deputy Principal.

The Head of Department - Student Services positions are known locally at Toogoolawah as: 

  • Head of Year - Year 7 and Year 8
  • Head of Year - Year 9 and Year 10
  • Head of Year - Year 11 and Year 12
  • Head of Sport

As the Head of Sport (0.2 FTE) your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Coordination of all sporting programs including extra-curricular sport, Interschool sports, whole school sporting events and extension programs.

As Head of Year (HOY) (0.2FTE) your focus will be on the following:

  • Guide students to embody the PBL values of being Respectful, being Responsible and being Committed to Achievement.
  • Nurture personal accountability and positive interpersonal connections.
  • Cultivate academic enthusiasm.
  • Support each student's journey towards realising their full potential.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Coordinate and manage student engagement and wellbeing programs for your assigned year level - including individual and small group programs targeted to wellbeing and social-emotional support for identified students.
  • Coordinate the activities of the year-level pastoral care program, including year-level assemblies and special events.
  • Work with the Deputy Principal and Leadership Team. The role of HOY is characterised by a proactive, data-informed, and relational approach.

Our Heads of Year have responsibilities encompassing pastoral care and well-being, effective communication with parents, nurturing students' social and emotional growth, overseeing attendance, uniform adherence, addressing instances of bullying, coordinating year-level assemblies, conducting behavioural investigations, implementing constructive rewards and intervention initiatives, in addition to fulfilling organisational responsibilities during pivotal year-level events.
