About the Role:
As Head of Department - Student Engagement, you will play a critical role in supporting the re-engagement of students, strengthening school discipline, and maintaining safe, positive, and inclusive learning environments.
Working collaboratively with school leadership, you will manage Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavioural interventions, ensure processes align with departmental legislation and policy, and support staff, students, and families to re-establish effective engagement with learning.
This role combines operational decision-making with compassionate, evidence-based support — ensuring every student has the opportunity to participate and succeed.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Lead and implement innovative strategies to improve student learning outcomes and attendance, particularly for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring equitable and high-quality education for all.
- Monitor student performance and behaviour, develop targeted intervention strategies, and embed socially just practices to enhance academic achievement and engagement.
- Collaborate and communicate with parents, higher education institutions, State Schools Division, regional executive teams, teachers, and external agencies to support student success and holistic wellbeing.
- Develop and deliver community engagement initiatives in partnership with local businesses, not-for-profit organisations, and support agencies to assist students and families, including new arrivals.
- Oversee team operations by managing human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources; ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies; and prepare data reports as required for senior management.
