About the Role
The college's Heads of Department each lead large and complex areas of responsibility within a P-12 institution of approximately 3700 students. This position known locally as Head of Department: Inclusive Education (P-6) will lead Inclusive processes and practices from Prep to Year 6, working within and across the Junior and Middle sub schools.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage the Inclusive Education team to provide advice to classroom teachers for students with barriers to learning, as needed (inclusive of Students with Disabilities and EAL/D learners).
- Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with barriers to learning.
- Provide case management for students who require extensive adjustments as well as lead supports during transitions of Prep students into the College, and oversee the case management of all substantial students P-6.
- Implement and coordinate school-wide systems including data systems to monitor students with disability and record the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability.
- Form and maintain partnerships with parents, other government agencies, and community groups to support students with disability.
The Head of Department, Student Engagement with a focus on Inclusive Education (P-6) does not have a teaching allocation but may support individual students to access curriculum as required.

Applicants should have experience within Inclusive Education and the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully within a team environment. The ideal candidate will set high standards for student and staff performance, be futures oriented and strategic, and provide a holistic and proactive approach to supporting the Inclusive Education faculty in alignment with the college's strategic priorities.
