About the Role

As Head of Department, Student Engagement, you will join a team of experienced educators and work with highly capable young people within an engaged school community that fosters strong connections between home and school. The successful applicant will demonstrate initiative and play a leading role in supporting students' engagement with school so that every young person has the opportunity to achieve their personal best. You will also lead pastoral programs and co-curricular experiences together with strategic portfolios aligned to the assigned year level and expertise.

As Head of Department, Student Engagement, you will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in school, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Where requested, consult, analyse and prepare data for senior management and the regional executive team.
  • Monitor students' individual performance as well as behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies in alignment with needs of students.
  • Communicate and work with parents, higher education institutes and State Schools Division to improve learning outcomes, student achievements and attendance.
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies and programs with other organisations, local businesses and not for profit organisations.
  • Liaise with external agencies (for example, indigenous support agencies) to support new arrivals and their families through integrating them into the new environment and incorporate the holistic needs of new students including academic, social and emotional.
