About Us:

We have a very dynamic team of IM Teachers who regularly seek advice and support for the planning and delivery of the IM Program within their schools.

There is high demand for school visits and pedagogical support, particularly with our proportionally larger group of young teachers.

About the Role:

Applicants will be given the opportunity to participate with other HOD IM teachers in our statewide team days based in Brisbane.

NQ Instrumental Music Head of Curriculum (HOD) Planning and delivering cluster and regional events that align with curriculum and program delivery, with the aim of enhancing student outcomes and supporting the quality of teaching and learning within the Department's Instrumental Music program.

Providing curriculum leadership in Instrumental Music across the region to support and grow teacher expertise through targeted professional learning, mentoring, and fostering a culture of reflective and collaborative practice, particularly focussing on Beginner IM Teachers. Developing and monitoring services, programs, and events tailored to support schools and teachers, to respond to local needs and contexts, and to further improve student outcomes and build teacher capability within the Department's Instrumental Music Program.

  • Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.

About You:

  • Applicants need experience and accomplishment in conducting a variety of instrumental ensembles.  
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Department's IM Curriculum and broad knowledge of instrumental technique and technical requirements across all instrument families.
  • Applicants will require skills and knowledge in repertoire selection, assessment and planning requirements of the IM Curriculum, and proficient technology skills for the management of NQIM resources and workshops.
