About the School

Our school is located in Deception Bay, a coastal suburb in the City of Moreton Bay, just north of Brisbane. We cater for Year 7 to Year 12 with current enrolments of approximately 1100 students.

About the Role

The role involves leading Junior Secondary Year Level Leaders (Years 7-9), enhancing the transition from primary school, and building a strong junior secondary identity and voice. The school seeks a skilled and collaborative Head of Department who connects with students, builds positive relationships with staff, and embraces the school's vibrant culture.

As the Head of Department - Junior Secondary your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Lead the department in creating and committing to a shared vision for quality student outcomes.
  • Promote socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
  • Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
  • Be future-oriented and strategic.
  • Understand policies and legislation affecting the department.
  • Manage department resources to achieve goals.
