About the Role

As the Head of Department - Deaf & Hard of Hearing, you will play a leading role in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing so that every young person has equal opportunity.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Provide guidance through collaboration with other staff and external organisations to provide advice and support about the teaching of DHH students, the use of assistive technology, the use of Auslan in education and use of adjustments to ensure equal access to all elements of the curriculum for students.
  • Develop positive relationships between students, teachers, and the community, promoting acceptance that student success is a shared responsibility.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
