About the Role

As the Head of Department (Secondary) - Inclusion Support, you will play a leading role in supporting students with a disability so that every young person has equal opportunity.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Assist the school to identify areas within the school where inclusive practices can be strengthened and embedded in all aspects of school culture, policies and practices. This includes support at the differentiation, targeted and intensive levels.
  • Understand and support school to apply the Inclusive Education Policy Statement and Disability Standards for Education, including equal access through reasonable adjustments and teaching strategies tailored to meet their individual needs.
  • Focus on educational leadership and provide resources and support to address the needs of all students including those with diverse learning and behavioural needs in line with the vision of State Schools Division.
  • Develop positive relationships between students, teachers, and the community, promoting acceptance that student success is a shared responsibility.
  • Act as an advocate and voice for learning for all and inclusive education, reflecting the shared belief that all students can learn.
