About Bundaberg State High School
Bundaberg State High School is one of the oldest state high schools in Queensland, having opened its doors in 1912 on the banks of the Burnett River. Welcome to our website where you will find information and images which illustrate the diversity of our school.
The school's motto is 'per ardua ad astra', which loosely translates as 'through hard work, the stars', and this set of values informs the expectations of all who work and study here. They also provide a framework for the students as they move into the world beyond the school.

About the Role
As the Head of Department, you will:
- lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
- participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division
- develop the quality of teaching and learning
- develop staff capability for the planning and implementation of curriculum and assessment that is aligned to the Australian Curriculum V9 and QCAA Syllabi
- nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders
- play a lead role of building the school priority agendas of engagement and wellbeing
- build and maintain community connections and links to industry to support pathway opportunities for students.
The Head of Department is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate.
Abou You
- The successful candidate must have the demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with students and maintain high expectations for student behaviour and performance. In addition, the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and lead the planning and implementation of new and evolving curriculum and assessment, that is inclusive of all students, is essential.
