About Tannum Sands State High School

Tannum Sands State High School opened in 1998 minutes from the beach in the coastal community of Boyne Island and Tannum Sands. The school's motto Creating Our Futures is well supported by business and industy in the Gladstone region, with many students taking advantage of extra-curricular oipportunities and making the successful transition to apprenticehsips, training and tertiary education.

About the Role

This Head of Department position will be suited to an energetic and future-focused individual who has the ability to lead the Faculty to engender excitement and passion in teachers to deliver V9 of the Australian Curriculum and senior Modern History, Legal Studies and Business in the Humanities subjects. The preferred candidate will have a strong student-focused approach and ability to build strong professional relationships with students, teachers, parents and the community. They will lead their faculty to co-design and deliver high quality pedagogy and learning experience.

As the Head of Department - Humanities, you will:

  • Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
  • Participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • Lead staff through cycles of systematic curriculum delivery
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
