Marsden State High School has been operating since 1987 and has a long and proud tradition of providing excellent quality public education. Since opening in 1987, the school has grown to over 3500 students. While the school is one of the largest in Queensland, it has a strong sense of community and is able to offer individual attention and diverse opportunities for participation. The biggest advantage of Marsden State High School is that we can offer a comprehensive range of subjects and activities that smaller schools may find harder to achieve. Marsden State High School produces the highest possible academic, sporting and vocational education outcomes for a full range of students and has an excellent record of success in students attaining tertiary entrance places/offers.
About the Role:
As the Head of Department, you will:
- Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
- Participate in delivering the vision of Early Childhood and State Schools Division
- Develop the quality of teaching and learning
- Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
