About the Role
The School is seeking to appoint an inspirational leader, a person who can communicate a clear vision and who will drive innovative and dynamic approaches to the design and delivery of the Geography curriculum. As the Head of Geography, you will lead and manage a department of 14 highly qualified and experienced educators, that deliver engaging lessons and promotes a passion for geography among students from Year 7 to Year 12.
About You
You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:
- A passion for the subject area, a keen interest in new developments in the subject area, and a broad network of contacts at the leading edge of subject development
- Enthusiasm for sharing ideas and opportunities with students and members and a facility for communicating the value of the subject area to others
- A high degree of technical knowledge and a commitment to on-going professional learning
- The ability to implement initiatives, project delivery and change management
- Relevant experience in educational and other environments and a willingness to draw on that experience to enrich the School’s offering in the subject area
- Ability to perform successfully with responsibility for the management and development of other colleagues
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to advise and liaise across all levels of an organisation and with parents and guardians
- Capacity for strategic planning and thinking and well-developed analytical and research skills
- Well-developed report writing and administrative skills, including a capacity to assist with the financial management of the department; and
- Teacher Accreditation Band 2 – 3.

- Appropriate qualifications
- A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
- A current National Police Check; and
- Full working rights within Australia.
