Key skills and qualities for the Acting Head of Department English role include:

  • Leading a high performing faculty through the provision of quality learning and teaching, to support students to reach their learning potential;
  • Setting high standards for student and staff performance;
  • Participating in weekly leadership meeting and conducting regular faculty meetings;
  • Mentoring beginning teachers in the faculty and providing support to others when required;
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the English department;
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the English department to achieve goals;
  • Work collaboratively with the co-leader of the English department;
