About the School: 

Sunset State School is located in Mount Isa in far North West Queensland.

Sunset State School provides a curriculum that accommodates the wide variety of learning needs which present at our school with our main focus on Health and Physical Education, Number, Reading Comprehension and unstructured cooperative play.

About the role: 

This role is to support the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence Strategy through the Partnership Initiative project piloting the delivery of tailored and differentiated support to 42 regional, rural and remote Queensland schools.

The pilot will be rolled out over three years and may establish parameters and requirements for longer-term support to deliver effective responses to community challenges and opportunities.

The objective of the initiative is to enable participating schools to collaborate with community partners and government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies.

The initiative supports the involvement of First Nations communities in decision making to lift learning and life outcomes for young indigenous Australians.

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the curriculum areas or whole school program to achieve goals.
