Lockhart State School is comprised of 150 students from Kindy to year 12. Located in Lockhart River, on the east coast of Cape York Peninsular, the area has considerable cultural diversity and traditions which are embedded in the curriculum. Your opportunity

Reporting to the school Principal, as a Head of Department (Curriculum), you will assist the Principal in contributing to the continuous improvement in educational outcomes for school students at Lockhart with a focus on literacy and numeracy. You will work with the Principal to successfully implement Departmental priorities in curriculum, and teaching and learning.

Your Role
As the Head of Department (Curriculum) your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embedding socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Setting high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participating in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Forming partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.

You will:

  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.

NOTE: The role will be a non-teaching role, however as the need arises you will be required to provide internal relief.

Mandatory requirement
Current full registration, or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. Information on registration requirements is available at enquiries@qct.edu.au
