About Geebung Special School
Geebung Special School is a special school for students of primary and prior to school age (birth to 12) who have intellectual and other disabilities. As the only primary special school in the Brisbane area our highly skilled teachers are able to utilise specialised approaches to early years learning. The school caters for 115 school aged students and up to 40 students of pre-compulsory age. All students have been identified as requiring significant educational support arising from intellectual impairment and other disabilities.
Geebung Special School is situated on a large block of land featuring lots of green space. Our school features an orchard and a wide variety of play spaces to promote creative, imaginative and fun learning opportunities. Our school prides itself on our classrooms designed to promote inquiry learning as well as a purpose built gymnasium, indoor pool, bike track, sensory garden, oval and school hall. The setting allows our students to utilise aspects of Nature Play both in and out of the classroom giving many opportunities to engage with the natural environment.
About the Role
You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
- Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
