Who We Are:

In 2015, Tingalpa State School commenced a French Australian Bilingual Program, accredited with AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad).

Whites Hill State College started a French Bilingual Program in 2023, with class in both primary and high school. Both campuses are co-educational. Tingalpa State School works with students from Prep to Year 6 and Whites Hill State College have students from Prep to Year 12.

The focus of the French Australian Bilingual Program is to provide excellent teaching and learning environments which allow children to achieve academic success and develop positive social and emotional skills.

Students learn the languages of English and French while also developing cultural understanding of Francophone communities.

The successful applicant would be required to work collaboratively with the Deputy Principal - French Australian Bilingual Program and the leadership teams of Tingalpa State School and Whites Hill State College to articulate and achieve the vision of the schools' Strategic Plans and French Bilingual Program.

Key aspects of the HOD - FBP role include:

  • Manage the elaboration, implementation and evaluation of the French-Australian Bilingual Program.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the French-Australian Bilingual Program strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Enhance high quality teaching and learning in the French-Australian Bilingual Program through professional guidance, explicit modelling, mentoring and coaching of staff in the French-Australian Bilingual Program.
  • Engage in explicit teaching in classrooms to support individual students and/or small groups of students requiring more intensive teaching support.
  • Develop and maintain structures for effective communication and consultation with staff, students, parents/carers and community groups.

Applicants for this position must:

  • Have registration or eligibility for registration as a teacher in Queensland with the Queensland College of Teachers
  • Have experience teaching French in a Primary and/or High School
  • Be a native French speaker and a fluent English speaker
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to influence and work collaboratively with colleagues to maximise outcomes for students

Additional to the above:

  • Concours de Recrutement des Professeurs des Écoles (CRPE) holders preferred but not essential.
