About this job

About the Department

The Department of Education are dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the community and schools we support by treating everyone with respect and dignity. This starts with recruitment and selection. The methods of assessing suitability in the recruitment process may vary. This includes making reasonable adjustments to support applicants at all stages of the process and employee lifecycle.

About the School

This position will be based in Mount Isa and the successful candidate will be required to travel between the three locations spending at least a week at each location using a department vehicle. Burketown and Camooweal are located in North West Queensland.

Subsidised teacher housing will be available in Mount Isa with alternate accommodation provided whilst providing face-to-face support in the two schools.

Both schools are small and use the P-6 curriculum model to cater for multi-year level classes. At present both schools offer a K-2 class and a 3-6 class. Both schools are Partnership Initiative schools and as such are required to work closely with the local community to improve student learning and well-being.

Living and working in remote north west of Queensland, you will have access to the benefits the Department offers for temporary teachers and staff employed in rural and remote locations. These benefits include travel, location allowances and subsidised departmental housing.
