About Calamvale Community College

The Junior School at Calamvale offers a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate curriculum from Prep to Year 6, fostering diversity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. With approximately 1200 students, the school is divided into Lower Junior (Prep-Year 2) and Upper Junior (Year 3-Year 6), each with dedicated spaces and schedules. Collaborative teaching teams, supported by Heads of Programs and Deputy Principals, ensure consistency in pedagogy, student management, and maintaining high expectations for all learners. Prep students benefit from a dedicated precinct and play space for a smooth transition into formal education.

About the Role

Head of Program (Curriculum) focusing on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) within Education Queensland, five key responsibilities might include:

  • Curriculum Leadership: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of the PYP curriculum to meet IB standards and Education Queensland requirements.
  • Professional Development: Provide guidance and professional learning opportunities for teachers to ensure effective delivery of the IB PYP framework.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Oversee PYP assessment practices, including formative and summative assessments, ensuring alignment with IB criteria and Queensland educational standards.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with parents, teachers, and the broader school community to foster an understanding of the IB philosophy and its benefits.
  • Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure the school meets all requirements for IB accreditation and Queensland Department of Education regulations, conducting regular audits and preparing for IB reviews.

About You

Must-Haves:

  • IB PYP Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, including curriculum development and implementation.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead and mentor teaching staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Curriculum Design: Strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and experience aligning it with Queensland educational standards.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with staff, parents, and the broader community.
  • Accreditation Knowledge: Familiarity with the IB accreditation process and Queensland Department of Education compliance requirements.
