About the Role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to support teachers to plan for, enact and monitor the implementation of an effective whole school approach to pedagogy at Berserker Street State School in Rockhampton.

The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of the science of learning and evidence based pedagogical practices and strategies suitable for teaching prep to year six students. They should be able to work with individual teachers within classrooms, as well as deliver cohort and staff professional learning sessions aligned to DoE CARF requirements and the Australian Curriculum, with a strong emphasis on the pedagogy which could be applied to engage learners.

The successful candidate should have:

  • A strong knowledge of how to differentiate to support diverse learners and be a skilled and experienced teacher with recent classroom experience.
  • Knowledge of ‘Teach Like A Champion' strategies and a bank of transferable high yield literacy and numeracy instructional routines would be beneficial to the role.
  • DoE has recently released resources to support the requirements for pedagogy outlined in the P-12 CARF and knowledge and experience with utilising these principles to drive systematic curriculum delivery in schools would be beneficial.
  • Experience working in settings with students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds would also be advantageous.

Berserker Street State School has an experienced HOD C and you would be joining with this HOD C, the leadership team and the teaching team within the school to enact engaging curriculum experiences for learners. The successful application will also be working alongside a small number of other schools in the Rockhampton area to support moderation processes and engaging learning and teaching episodes once established in the role.
