Erub Campus, Darnley Island - 12-month temporary appointment

The current enrolment at Tagai State College - Erub Campus is approximately 61 students ranging in year levels from Kindergarten to Year 6. The campus has 2 teachers, teacher aides, local staff and a teaching Head of Campus. For most students, English is an additional language. This role is supervised by a member of the Executive leadership team.

Darnley Island is an island formed by volcanic action and situated in the eastern section of the Torres Strait, near the Great Barrier Reef and just south of the Bligh entrance. The effective community language is Torres Strait Creole, though many people still speak the traditional language, Meriam Mir and the island has a population of around 400 people.

About the Role

As the Head of Campus you will:

  • Deliver the vision of the department
  • Improve the educational outcomes of students in their schools
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

The Head of Campus is a teaching Head of Campus role. The suitable applicant must be able to demonstrate capability to meet the accountabilities of a quality teacher and has demonstrated leadership capability to lead a Campus in alignment with the College strategic agenda.
