About the Role

This position, Head of Campus, Jacaranda Place, is based at the Adolescent Extended Treatment Centre, 78 Farnell St, Chermside. This state-wide centre caters for students aged 13-18 years who have complex mental health conditions. Jacaranda Place has two programs catering for students who are admitted to either the Inpatient Unit (a 12 bed residential state-wide service, for admission of up to 6 months with an average of 4 months) or the Day Program (a non-residential program for local adolescents who come into the program 5 days each week for 2 -3 school terms). Inpatient Unit and Day Program students come together for their educational programs. There is a strong focus on engagement and transition programs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Campus Principal, Jacaranda Place will:

  • Lead the teaching and learning programs at Jacaranda Place and other campuses
  • Be responsible for campuses including:
  • Jacaranda Place (Inpatient Unit and Day Program)
  • Adolescent Mental Health Unit - located at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital
  • Eating Disorder Day Program - located on Gympie Rd, Chermside
  • Regional hospital education programs - located in Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Logan and Gold Coast
  • Work closely in collaboration with Department of Health staff to deliver services and form positive partnerships
  • Work in collaboration with Metropolitan South and North Department of Education staff and schools
  • Work with the 7 regional partner schools who support the delivery of hospital education programs outside Metropolitan regions (Hospital education staff outside the Metropolitan regions are on staff at a local regional school. Professional supervision and curriculum delivery is led by QCHS leadership team.)
  • Partner with a range of internal and external agencies
  • Lead the recruitment processes for education staff at QCHS/Jacaranda Place
  • Work with the Executive Principal and Senior Leadership Team of QCHS to plan and deliver hospital education programs across Queensland
