  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

The Head of Campus at the above various campuses is a teaching Head of Campus role. The suitable applicant must be able to demonstrate capability to meet the accountabilities of a quality teacher and has demonstrated leadership capability to lead a Campus in alignment with the College strategic agenda.

Erub Campus, Darnley Island - 12-month temporary appointment

The current enrolment at Tagai State College - Erub Campus is approximately 61 students ranging in year levels from Kindergarten to Year 6. The campus has 2 teachers, teacher aides, local staff and a teaching Head of Campus. For most students, English is an additional language. This role is supervised by a member of the Executive leadership team.

Darnley Island is an island formed by volcanic action and situated in the eastern section of the Torres Strait, near the Great Barrier Reef and just south of the Bligh entrance. The effective community language is Torres Strait Creole, though many people still speak the traditional language, Meriam Mir and the island has a population of around 400 people.

Mer Campus, Murray Island - 12 month temporary appointment

The current enrolment at Tagai State College - Mer Campus is approximately 46 students ranging in year levels from Kindergarten to Year 6. The campus has 2 teachers, teacher aides, local staff and a teaching Head of Campus. For most students, English is an additional language. This role is supervised by a member of the executive leadership team.

Murray Island is a small island of volcanic origin located in the eastern island group of the Torres Strait. The people of Murray Island speak Torres Strait Creole and Meriam Mir, with the islands population of around 450 people.

Iama Campus, Yam Island - 12 month temporary appointment

The current enrolment at Tagai State College - Iama Campus is approximately 53 students ranging in year levels from Kindergarten to Year 6. The campus has 2 teachers, teacher aides, local staff and a teaching Head of Campus for most part of the school day and has a small teaching load to provide teachers with their non-contact provision. For most students, English is an additional language. This role is supervised by a member of the executive leadership team.

Yam Island is an island off the Bourke Isles, 100km northeast of Thursday Island. The area measures about two square kilometres. The language of Iama is Kulkalgau Ya, a dialect of the Western-Central Torres Strait Language Kala Lagaw Ya and the island has a population of around 350 people.
