As a Guidance Officer, you will:

  • Provide targeted counselling, case management, and advocacy for students with disability and students in out-of-home care, supporting their access to wrap-around services by facilitating referrals to external agencies (including NDIS providers), coordinating case management meetings with key stakeholders (e.g. Child Safety, allied health, and community organisations), and working closely with families to remove barriers to educational engagement and success
  • Provide professional expertise, leadership, and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental, and lifelong learning outcomes.
  • Collaboratively negotiate, develop, and implement programs for students that focus on preventative and early intervention strategies; are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional, and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development
  • Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment, and individual student support, recommendations, and advice to students, teachers, and parents concerning

We are looking for a relational leader with exceptional communication skills, capable of building trust with students, families, and stakeholders. Your work will ensure that students with complex needs have the right support in place to achieve their educational goals and thrive within the school community.
