About the Role 

The Grounds and Maintenance Officer will support the school in ensuring that the school’s grounds, buildings, and equipment are well maintained, well presented, physically secure, compliant with all appropriate regulations and provide a safe environment for the school community.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance on buildings, facilities, furniture and equipment.

  • Assisting with the basic maintenance of site gardening, landscaping and tree management.

  • Monitor the condition of the school property, facilities and equipment to immediately report unsafe conditions to the Principal for the necessary repairs.

  • Assist in the set-up of school events, functions, and assemblies.

  • Comply with all work health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Cleaning and organising workshops and storage sheds; to ensure cleaning chemicals and tools are kept secured.

Essential Criteria 

  • Current and valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration.

  • Current First Aid Certificate or the willingness to obtain one.

  • Relevant work experience in a similar or related position.
