About the Role 

Join the dedicated team at Mother Teresa School as a Grounds Maintenance Officer, where you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe and inviting environment for our students and staff. In this hands-on position, you’ll be responsible for maintaining our beautiful outdoor spaces, ensuring that our modern, weatherproof facilities are complemented by lush gardens and well-kept play areas. Your expertise will help foster a productive and safe school community, supporting student engagement in outdoor learning and activities.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conducting non-specialised general maintenance work.
  • Undertaking general gardening tasks including preparation and planting procedures.
  • Responsibility for operating, maintaining and adjusting turf machinery, as appropriate.
  • Cleaning and inspecting machinery after each use, reporting any problems to the appropriate manager
  • Applying fertilisers, fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides following approval from manager.
  • Inspecting and securing buildings daily.
  • Assisting qualified tradespersons in building and furniture maintenance
  • Responding as required to alarms, following emergency procedures, preparing incident reports, inspecting and securing buildings.
  • Responsibility for the storage and distribution of cleaning equipment and chemicals, as required.
  • Taking general care of school bikes for school use for bike riding.

Qualifications 

  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) and/or Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) registrations.
  • Relevant work experience
  • Driver’s License [Dependent on Schools Need]
  • First Aid Certificate

  5. Ability to apply knowledge experience and training to assist with planning, organising and achieving outcomes within the relevant time constraints.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of work, health and safety principles and legislation, including hazard identification and risk management.

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
