About Dalrymple Trade Training Centre (DTTC)

Dalrymple Trade Training Centre (DTTC) was developed as a partnership between the four major schools in Charters Towers—Charters Towers State High, All Souls St. Gabriels School, Charters Towers School of Distance Education, and Columba Catholic College. Our centre provides opportunities for students to undertake a range of vocational training in purpose-built, fully-equipped, modern premises.

Since 2014, the DTTC and our training partners have been committed to providing each student with the best possible opportunities that will serve as a foundation for their lifelong learning needs.

This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.  

About the Role

Responsibilities include;

  • Performing a range of activities to ensure that the centre is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature.
  • As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will not be required to perform any task or repairs that would normally require the services of a qualified tradesperson.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment; safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuels; bring to appropriate attention any safety hazards; manage equipment records; and maintain tools and equipment for repair services (as per manufacturer's service manual).
  • Attend to/or arrange repairs and maintenance within the centre, including those which relate to furniture and equipment; locks and windows; and centre facilities.
  • Order and/or collect general grounds care/cleaning supplies and materials as authorised by the Centre Manager; undertake ground improvement and enhancement activities.
  • Oversee maintenance of centre grounds through regular mowing, watering and soil maintenance (refer to WHS guidelines and procedures); lawn and garden maintenance, including regular weeding and the use of appropriate insecticides and fertilisers where necessary (refer to WHS guidelines and procedures); plant, water and care for trees, shrubs, gardens; and undertake general maintenance of grounds care equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, tractors (as per manufacturers' service manuals) and arrange regular services.
  • Commencing operations in 2014, the Dalrymple Trade Training Centre is a purpose built training facility funded jointly by the Commonwealth Government's Trade Training Centre's in Schools Program and four of the local secondary schools.

The centre is a partnership between:

  • Charters Towers State High School (as Lead School);
  • All Souls and St Gabriel's;
  • Columba Catholic College; and
  • Charters Towers School of Distance Education.
