Future Science Teacher - Science Teaching Assistant

Are you a science graduate or aspiring teacher looking to gain paid school-based experience before training as a teacher?

We are recruiting a Science Teaching Assistant for a welcoming secondary school in Haringey, offering clear progression into teacher training and unique opportunities to develop your teaching skills in the classroom.

This role is ideal for anyone considering a career as a science teacher and looking for hands-on experience prior to PGCE, School Direct or salaried teacher training routes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons
  • Work with individuals and small groups to raise attainment
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation and practical science activities
  • Build classroom confidence and behaviour management skills
  • Take part in enrichment, STEM clubs and intervention sessions
  • Learn from experienced teachers through mentoring and observation
  • What We're Looking For

  • A degree (or working towards one) in Science or a related subject
  • A strong interest in becoming a qualified science teacher
  • Confident, enthusiastic and motivated personality
  • Strong communication and organisation skills
  • Previous experience with young people (school, tutoring, youth work or volunteering) is desirable but not essential
