About this job

ELTHAM College is seeking an experienced and qualified leader to head up their finance function and oversee other operational activities of the College.

This role reports to and collaboratively works with the Director of Business and Operations.  This role will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information, support budgeting and forecasting, and drive financial performance for the College. 

This position also plays a key role in supporting the Executive and Board by providing financial guidance and reporting. This will involve analysing and presenting on financial strengths and weaknesses, identifying and managing financial risks and exploring opportunities for increasing revenue and reducing costs.

Having experience in the education industry would be highly regarded. 

You possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications and have proven experience in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills 
  • Experience managing and implementing change initiatives  
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, Excel)
  • Strong people leadership and team management skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to present financial information clearly to stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
