About Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre

Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre is a Department of Education school operating within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol. It is a multi-campus school that caters to both male and female students from across the state who are either on remand or have been sentenced for criminal offences. The school plays an important role in the community by providing young people in detention with the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills, and values that can enhance their capacity to pursue positive choices in the future. Your Opportunity

Based at our parent campus, Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre, you will contribute to the efficient operations of facility management across multi campuses and provide timely and quality administrative support to the Business Manager relating to but not limited to:

  • Facilities and maintenance, including capital works projects and coordination of minor works.
  • Conduct and/or organise safety and security inspections across the site in accordance with the Facility Management Plan
  • Undertake and/or organise activities for the annual maintenance schedule
  • Maintain systems, registers, processes and procedures to administer transactions related to facilities management and reporting including Work Area Access Permits (WAAP), WH&S incidents and oversee and/or undertake administration
  • Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.

The successful candidate will work considerably autonomously to ensure operations are managed professionally and align with the school's strategic direction while staying compliant with the Department of Education's rigorous legislative policies, procedures and compliance frameworks.

Previous experience in school administration is not essential; a proactive attitude and rudimentary knowledge of building trades and government procurement processes would beneficial.
