EYFS Teaching Assistant - Southwark Location: Southwark, South East London Start Date: January 2026 Pay: £95 - £115 per day

Veritas Education is delighted to be supporting a warm, nurturing, and community-focused primary school in Southwark as they seek a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team from January 2026.

This OFSTED-rated 'Good' school is widely recognised for its child-centred approach and commitment to ensuring every child develops the foundations they need to thrive. As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and EYFS lead, providing high-quality support to children in Nursery and/or Reception. You will help promote early learning, communication, personal development, and independence through play-based, engaging activities.

This position is perfect for a caring, enthusiastic, and patient individual who is passionate about helping young children flourish during their crucial early years.

The Ideal EYFS Teaching Assistant Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children in an Early Years or primary school setting (essential)

  • A strong understanding of the EYFS Framework and child-led learning

  • Knowledge of strategies that support early communication, social skills, and behaviour

  • Patience, creativity, and sensitivity when working with young children, including those with additional needs

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff and families

  • Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting children through play-based, hands-on learning experiences

  • Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support where required

  • Assisting with early phonics, early maths, communication, and language development

  • Encouraging positive social interaction, independence, and emotional wellbeing

  • Supporting the class teacher with planning, preparation, and setting up engaging learning environments

  • Observing children's progress and sharing key information with the teacher and EYFS lead
