About the Opportunity:

The Executive Director reports to the Assistant Director-General, Strategy and Performance of the Department of Education. This role will lead a team of approximately 40 FTE to provide strategic oversight of the department's governance frameworks and partner with key business leaders and stakeholders within and across the department to ensure the organisation is positioned to deliver on its strategic objectives. A proven success record in leading corporate wide strategy development and initiatives, leading organisation planning, performance management and review and improvement cycles and engaging stakeholders at a whole of organisation level will be highly regarded. In addition, demonstrated experience in leading and maturing strategy development aligned to whole of government priorities; governance arrangements, processes and systems and key corporate reporting for the department. negotiating stakeholder expectations at a senior level critical when providing advice on whole government agenda issues.

It is essential that the Executive Director can develop and inspire a culture which fosters collaboration, evidence -based decision-making, innovation and performance orientation where people are passionate about their work and take personal accountability for their actions.

  • Demonstrated leadership success in large, complex organisations
  • Extensive experience across the public and/or private and/or not for profit sector
  • Demonstrated success in strategy and policy implementation, service delivery, and client service.
  • Proven track record as an agent of change in challenging environments.
  • Ability to foster a confident and capable workforce.
