About QASMT
Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology is a selective entry school, located within four kilometres of Brisbane City centre. The Academy opened in January 2007 and works in partnership with a range of universities, including the University of Queensland, in nurturing highly capable students in achieving their potential as future leaders in a science specialist school environment.
About the Role
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead, manage and oversee the school's Information Technology infrastructure, network, systems, school production, staff, procedures, budget, assets and equipment
- Work collaboratively with Senior Leaders (Line Manager) to achieve the school's Information Technology strategic priorities and outcomes. Support the Senior Leader (Line Manager) to lead the responsible use of technology.
- Lead, manage and monitor the IT staff / Technicians/System Administrator/ Production workloads to deliver the IT / Production operations of the school by completing and delegating tasks appropriately.
- Liaise with teaching staff on their needs for IT support, advising on the technical components of the delivery of 24/7 learning and maintaining a system of recording allocation and usage of all IT equipment and IT infrastructure, setting a priority system where necessary.
- Ensure proper functionality of email and data storage networks and connectivity of staff workstations to the central computer network.
- Train all new users to use relevant software and hardware, including workshops, demonstrations, instruction of students and staff on the use of IT equipment and Learning Management systems.
- Manage QASMT's Learning Management Systems, including enrolling new staff and students, enacting updates to systems, upskilling staff and ensuring that payment of LMS subscriptions are actioned.
- Identify and fulfil the Academy's needs around computer system, including upgrading systems to meet organizational needs.
- Monitor and maintain the daily operation of computer networks and resolve malfunctions within computer hardware and software and make required updates to all equipment and software.
- Remain up-to-date on current technology changes and trends within DOE and also national and international innovations and all DOE policies and procedures relating to IT infrastructure, eSafety, networks, C4T and Learning management systems.
- Manage the student BYOD and student repair device loan program, including working with JBHI FI representatives to ensure that the student device repair service is working at an optimal level.
- Willingness to develop knowledge and skills to support technical innovation in the QASMT MakerSpace with STEM-focused digital systems such as 3D printing, laser cutter, Adobe Creative Cloud, VR headsets, robotics.
- Ensure that financial procedures and activities are carried out in accordance with school policies and procedures; maintaining accurate records of IT inventory, purchases/incoming orders, arrange collection and/or receipting, unpacking, checking invoices and storage of stock.
- Managing telecommunication networks to connect staff outside the office.
- Establish and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships between the school and community particularly in regard to the ethical obligations outlined in the Queensland Government Code of Conduct.
