This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.

About the Role

Duties include the following:

  • Complete all mandatory training including WPHS (SOPS, OnGuard) training where relevant
  • Use and maintain machines and equipment for the processing of timber, metal and plastic materials
  • Sharpen tools on a regular basis
  • Monitor and empty dust extraction system
  • Undertake regular maintenance and maintenance register for all fixed and mobile equipment
  • Organize and maintain preparation room, storerooms and cupboards
  • Prepare and cut materials for classrooms and projects
  • Reporting damage and maintenance issues to HOD and/or teachers. Repairs to machines. Order parts as required
  • Assist with general tidiness of workshops and class rooms including the Trade Training Centre and Auto shed
  • Assist with yearly stock take
  • Repair equipment and facilities when appropriate (e.g. replace worn disc on disc & drum sanders, replace belts and blades)
  • Replace/return any missing tools from tool racks where required
  • Chemical management
  • Maintain appropriate storage requirements for flammables cupboards /dangerous goods
  • Clean and maintain 3d printers and Laser Cutters plus extraction system.
  • Re-fill consumables such as fixings, adhesives and finishes on a routine basis
  • Organize storage of materials such as timber, steel, plastics, paint, screws & adhesives etc.
  • Assist with daily, weekly, semester and yearly maintenance as per EQ guidelines.
  • Repair of student work benches
  • Identify purchasing needs of materials and consumables
  • Identify best price/value suppliers and prepare orders for Head of Department (Eventually order all materials and consumables)
  • Engrave and label new items of equipment
  • Build fixtures and jigs when required

About You

The successful applicant will:

  • Have exceptional organisational planning and coordination skills, including the ability to demonstrate flexibility and manage a demanding or competing deadline.
  • Perform any other duties relevant to your role as directed by School Leadership.
  • Knowledge of working with tools and machinery is preferred but not essential
