About Torquay State School

Torquay State School is a small primary school with approximately 190 students, located in Hervey Bay, which is approximately 3.5 hours north of Brisbane. Our school is on Butchulla Country, and we are fortunate to have a Community Education Counsellor onsite to grow our knowledge and connection to our wider community. We have a highly collegial support team, including support Teacher Aides, Support Teachers and Head of Special Education/Inclusion who work closely with our Head of Department (Curriculum).

About the Role

As the Head of Special Education Services, you will:

  • Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
  • Coordinate and provide intensive targeted teaching for students requiring intervention.
  • Provide, support and/or coordinate case management for students who require extensive or substantial adjustments.
  • Participate in school decision making processes as well as professional development to contribute to school goals, vision and planning.
  • The Head of Special Education Services is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate.
