About Biloela State High School

Biloela is located 125 km west of Gladstone in the Callide Valley. Students come from eight primary schools in the area including two non-state schools.
The school is situated on a large site with two ovals, two basketball courts and a large covered area. A 13.5 ha farm is attached to the school and provides the area for Agriculture Science and Horticulture Programs.
The school has an extensive range of curriculum offerings, with growing flexibility for students in the senior phase.
TAFE link courses, school-based traineeships, structured work placements and alternative programs for students all contribute to a diverse and futures-orientated approach to schooling.
We have Special Education facilities to service our school community. Our experienced staff work closely with students, staff and parents to build learning opportunities for all students.

Your Role

As the Head of Department English you will have responsibility for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Lead the English department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of V9 Australian Curriculum and Senior English syllabus.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning within your department
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.
  • Manage student behaviour in the English faculty.
  • Manage the human, financial and physical resources of the faculty.
