Secondary English Teacher - SEMH School | Wandsworth | ASAP Start

We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Secondary English Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Wandsworth with an ASAP start. This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate teacher who is committed to supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them re-engage with education through engaging and supportive teaching.

The RoleYou will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible English lessons to secondary-aged students, many of whom require additional support to access the curriculum. The successful candidate will be confident in adapting teaching strategies, building positive relationships with pupils, and creating a structured learning environment where students feel supported and able to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3-KS4

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH needs

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through supportive classroom management

  • Work closely with support staff and the wider pastoral team

  • Monitor student progress and support individual learning goals

    • Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential

  • Experience teaching Secondary English

  • Previous experience working in an SEMH school is desirable

  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills

  • A patient, resilient and proactive approach to teaching
