Veritas Education is working in partnership with a well‑regarded secondary school in the Wakefield area to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher. This role is suitable for an experienced practitioner or an ECT looking to develop their career in a supportive environment.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and progress in line with the Department for Education's professional expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality English lessons that inspire, challenge, and motivate pupils.
  • Assess, track, and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, attending meetings, training, and departmental activities.
  • Create an inclusive and positive classroom environment where all learners can thrive.
  • Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies in line with school and statutory guidance.
  • Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and/or Literature.
  • Experience teaching within a UK secondary school setting.
  • A commitment to high standards, professional conduct, and student wellbeing.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
