About the Role
Situated in the Learning, Teaching and Wellbeing team, the Education Officer: Learning and Teaching (Mathematics: 7-12) exists to support school leaders and teachers in the design, delivery and leadership of quality learning and quality teaching practices across our system of schools. It has a particular focus on the KLA of Mathematics and the integration of numeracy across all KLAs.

As the new Education Officer, you will:

  • Actively promote the Vision and Mission of Catholic education in the Diocese
  • Collaborate with schools to support the development of the Educational Leadership capabilities and practices in staff, as detailed in the CEDB Leading the Way framework
  • Work closely with Teachers in support of enhanced instructional competence and assisting with the implementation of system strategic priorities and initiatives
  • Liaising with relevant CEDB staff, principals, contact persons, classroom teachers, support teachers, assistants, parents and guardians and external stakeholders as required
  • Providing and coordinating professional development for teachers to increase their capacity to use multimodal approaches in effective and appropriate ways to support classroom learning and teaching
  • Undertake travel around our Diocese where required

 

About you
We are looking for someone who meets the following selection criteria:

  • A commitment to support the values and ethos of the Catholic tradition in the workplace 
  • A background in primary or secondary Catholic school education with demonstrated success as a classroom practitioner
  • Demonstrated success working in secondary Catholic school education with a focus on Mathematics
  • Completed Postgraduate study in education and/or leadership will be an advantage
  • Capacity to draw on current research and evidence based best practice to plan, implement and support school improvement in Learning and Teaching
  • Well-developed written, presentation and interpersonal skills with the capacity to communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders including Principals, teachers, students, families and external agencies
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage workload, display initiative and work collaboratively
